Advanced techniques

Physical therapy will help guide you through the injury process and help you heal optimally.  Here are some techniques we offer, which can be utilized to facilitate your treatment.

Bloodflow restriction therapy

Blood Flow Restriction Therapy utilizes a specialized cuff, set at an individualized pressure measured by a Doppler ultrasound, to promote tissue healing and muscle growth. It works by gently restricting blood flow to a specific area while allowing oxygen to continue reaching the muscles. This controlled restriction creates an environment that stimulates muscle growth and repair with lighter weights and less intense exercise than traditional methods.

By adjusting the cuff pressure precisely to each individual's needs, we can maximize the effectiveness of the therapy, enhance muscle strength, and accelerate recovery, all while minimizing stress on the body.

Cupping

Cupping Therapy involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction, which enhances blood flow and promotes healing. This technique helps release tight fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs, by stimulating the release of hyaluronic acid, which helps lubricate tissues and decrease density of fascia in restricted areas.

Benefits include:

  • Increased Mobility: Loosens tight fascia for better flexibility.

  • Pain Relief: Reduces discomfort by easing tension.

  • Faster Recovery: Boosts circulation and speeds up healing.

Cupping is an effective method for improving tissue health and overall movement.

3

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation

Often after injuries such as back pain, muscles have a hard time sequencing properly.  This technique helps promote efficient and proper movement of the scapula and pelvis, promoting core-first strategies.

4

Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization

Utilizing metal scraping tools, this technique can help temporarily improve tissue flexibility, calm muscles in a targeted area, and allow you to exercise with less pain.

5

Joint Mobilization and Manipulation

Joints can become stiffer and less mobile due to injury or prolonged, maladaptive lifestyle habits, such as extended periods of desk or computer use. Joint manipulation involves a specific movement, often heard as a "crack" or cavitation, which occurs when air trapped in the joint capsule is released.  Following this release (sound not required!), muscles in the surrounding tissues are activated by your nervous system to reduce tension and improve mobility.

6

Therapeutic exercise

Exercise is medicine, and here at Dynamic Gains Physical Therapy we take this literally.  Targeted exercise when performed consistently, can be effective in strengthening weakened muscles, promoting healing of injured areas, improving flexibility, letting you move better and helping your body heal.

7

Kinesiotape

Kinesiotape is a versatile tool designed to alleviate pain, support joints, and facilitate pain-free movement. By applying elastic tape to the skin, it helps optimize movement patterns and provides support, aiding in your recovery and enhancing overall function.
